Description

Baking your own bread at home has been gaining in popularity recently. Now with the natural sourdough by Arche, you can bake your own sourdough bread too.

Baking with sourdough has many advantages. It improves the taste with its typical aroma and makes bread fluffy and airy. Bread made with sourdough tends to stay fresh for longer as compared to bread made with other kinds of dough.

Arche's natural sourdough is ideal for baguettes, bread rolls and wholemeal bread. It can also be used to prepare pizza dough, cakes, crepes and much more.

Recipe for two 750 g sourdough loaves:

  • 1 kg wholemeal flour
  • 15 g Arche organic sourdough (= 2 tbsp, slightly heaped)
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 700 ml lukewarm water
  • Optional: bread spice of your choice

Oven temperature: Preheat oven to 220 °C (top/bottom heat) / reduce to 200 °C after 5 minutes baking time.

Rest time: 45 min in total

Baking time: approx. 60 minutes

  1. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, sourdough, dry yeast) with the salt and add bread spices if you wish.
  2. Carefully pour the lukewarm water over the dry ingredients.
  3. Knead well until you get a smooth, pliable dough.
  4. Cover and let rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes.
  5. Knead the risen dough again briefly.
  6. Shape into two loaves and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 220 °C (top/bottom heat).
  8. Place the bread in the preheated oven.
  9. After 5 minutes reduce the heat to 200°C.
  10. Bake for another 55 minutes.
  11. Remove from the oven, let cool and enjoy.
