Description

A baguette with a difference! Ingredients such as turmeric and nutty spelt flour result in a freshly baked baguette that goes well with savoury oriental dishes such as stews, soups and hummus. Also delicious with grilled food.

In addition to the baking mix, you will need the following fresh ingredients:
9 g dry yeast or ½ cube fresh yeast, about 430 g lukewarm water, 18 g malt extract

For a piquant treat: add 4 tbsp roasted onions

Method:

  • Sitr the yeast and malt extract into 430 g lukewarm water in a large bowl
  • Add the baking mix and knead briefly
  • Food processor kneading time: 7 - 10 minutes
  • Place the dough on a floured work surface, cover and let it rise at room temperature for about 60 minutes
  • After the resting time, divide the dough into 5 parts and shape into baguettes
  • Let the baguettes rise for another 20 minutes
  • Preheat the oven (top/bottom heat, 225 °C)
  • Score the baguettes with a sharp knife or blade, transfer them to a perforated baking tray (or a regular baking tray) and place in the oven
  • Immediately sprinkle the hot oven floor with water to generate steam
  • Baking time approx. 20 minutes
  • If the baguettes sound hollow when tapped on the bottom, they are ready
  • Cool completely on a wire rack and enjoy!
