Garlic
Allium sativum
Use:
Garlic is used as both a spice and a medicinal plant. It is used fresh, as a paste or dried and ground. Garlic is a universal spice for savory dishes and is also indispensable in Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. Garlic pairs well with fish and meat, salad dressings and dips.
Origins:
Originally garlic stems from West Asia, but today it is cultivated worldwide. The largest growing areas are China, India, South Korea, Russia and the US. The best garlic grows in temperate and subtropical climates.
